The game was initially released on the PlayStation before finding its way to Sega's Saturn and other platforms. Resident Evil games date back to 1996 with the first, self-titled entry, Resident Evil. Though it's not impossible to find and play every mainline Resident Evil game, players will have to be okay with either dusting off some old hardware or ponying up some extra dough for digital remasters/rereleases. Despite there being no shortage of the zombie-filled Capcom franchise during 2021, players are still eager to dig deeper into the rest of the series.


Players finally got to lay hands on the long-awaited Resident Evil Village and as an added treat, Resident Evil 4 made its transition to VR platforms. Resident Evil fans were in for a treat this year when they got not one, but two Resident Evil releases.
